GearThe Group Inc. Real Estate corporate party with the Tumbledowns. For 500 people, I used 2 triple 12 tops, 4 12" growler subs. The hotel manager at the Steamboat Grand said it was the best sound system he has ever heard in that room in the 10 years that he had been working there. Thanks again JTR!! Yours trully playin a private gig for the GROUP Corporation. 500 people at the grand ball room in steamboat. 2 triple 12 tops and 4- 12" growler subs OH we rocked hard and they allready booked us again for next year. The hotel manager said its the best sound system he has ever heard in there in 10 years that he has been workin there. Thanks again JTR!! 80% Of the shows at the Mishawaka Amphitheater are done with this little rig. 4 12" subs center pack and just 2 triple 12's. Crystal-clear, loud and very FULL-sounding. I brought this rig in for the BOOM BOX show at the Mishawaka. We had a crowd of over 800 people. I added 2 more triple 12 tops and four more GROWLER 12" subs. Many people, including the venue owner, complimented that this show sounded better, clearer and bigger then the George Clinton show a few weeks earlier. Plus, we only took up half the space with our rig, which meant the Mish could fit more people with a better view. The 18-person Fort Jazz Big Band loved the JTR rig. I got the usual harassment at first; jazz guys dont like my tattoos or my bald head. But after they heard their JTR monitors, they changed their tune. They got off the stage and gave compliment after compliment. Old, young, new audience and old audience members loved it. I always get the,"Wow that really was amazing. Can we request you for this festival again? You did an amazing job!" 8 am soundcheck with one of the biggest blues legends, Billy Branch. Notice the little stack of speakers on the left and right fed 3000 people crystal-clear, pant-shaking, baby-making music. This was one of the most diverse crowds I have ever seen. And the 8 different acts were all just tickled to death about their monitor mix as well. Billy Branch standing in front of a triple 12 JTR monitor. When asked about his mix, he said, "Holy s@*t, man. That is the best I have ever heard myself!" This is a back shot of 6 growlers and three triple 12 tops. You audio geeks will notice the center top is squared with the outer ones, angled and butted up tight. This makes for the perfect array that almost covers 180 degrees with ZERO combfiltering and no feedback. This is the rig we used for the 2008 Winter Park SONIC BLOOM fest indoor stage. We maxed out at 1500 people! My board was 100ft back, dead center. I didnt have my meter with me, but we were definitly in the 120 to 130 db range. OUCH!!! We used 10 growlers and 4 triple 12 tops and kept the system at unity. It was like being at a Metallica concert. The water in my glass was shaking! The SONIC BLOOM festival was also the debut of the new JTR DRUM MONITOR. This was another item I came up with and gave to Jeff to engineer. This little box quickly became the talk of the artists. One artists, unfamiliar with the rig, looked at it and demanded we put the L- acoustics full-range passive monitors from main stage up there. I did just that and, half a song in, he made me change back to the JTR monitor. He said the L-acoustics were crackling and farting out. He stayed with the JTR's and played for another hour and a half. This is one PACKED stage!! This was the Gavin Degraw show that helped shaped his music. Lots of fun and a great crew to work with! This rig here was the first time we put the JTR's out side. We had 6 growlers for the sub pack and a pack of 3 triple 12-tops stage left and right. Thirty minutes into the show, we knocked it down to just 2 tops, 1 each side, and four growler subs. It filled the entire park with punchy, tight, crystal-clear bass 350 feet back. This is a view from the stage directly above the 3-pack of triple 12's. We adequately covered that entire area - and then some. This is half of the super RED ROCKS rig. It is A LOT of fire power. If your booking METALLICA or SNOOP DOG for 10,000 people, this is the one you want. Over 50,000 watts, running a total of 12 LAB horn-loaded subs and JBL's BEST 2x15 ground stack tops. It still doesn't sound as clear and solid as the JTR rig, but it looks impressive and has a really good sound. If you are wanting to play in the 30-50hz region, you will need this rig. |
